The Oxford English Dictionary defines well-being as the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.  These different aspects of life  include :

  • Physical well-being.
  • Social well-being.
  • Emotional well-being.
  • Psychological well-being.
  • Life satisfaction.
  • Domain-specific satisfaction.
  • Development and activity.
  • Engaging activities and work.
  • Spiritual wellbeing

The more integrated these elements are in our lives, the healthier and holistic our lives become.  Altogether this has an impact on disease prevention and health promotion.  If wellness, therefore, is largely affected and influenced by these, its fair to say that,  as much as we can influence it, our lifestyle is of critical importance.
